Happy New Year
The IWSA
Tournament Schedule is set for the upcoming
2009 ski season. With an added event in Angola over Labor Day makes 15
tournament dates. The
Grassroots
schedule is posted with surly more events to be added as other ski sites hammer
out their schedules. The
clinic
schedule will be as busy as any in the past with thoughts of a Clinic Week to
offer all the clinics to be available at one time. These details will come in as
the next month or so progresses so check back often for any of your clinical
needs. The
collegiate
scene is coming alive in the Mid West with 13 scheduled tournaments for
the '09 collegiate season. For more on that story,
here.
Check back often as more details for all these IWSA events trickle in.

January 2nd, 2009 "Bryan Dougherty, the determined water skier" got
another month's winter ski under his belt . Bryan and his ski buddies had
to chop a path through the ice to the main body of the lake for Bryan to
continue his quest to ski at least once every day of each month through
the winter season. Next challenge - February.

Polar Bear / Dog? Event
|
An
anonymous IWSA member visited The Missouri Disabled Water Ski Association's
annual New Year's Day Polar Bear Water Ski event at the St. Louis Arch.
Pictured is Kevin Day with is dog Brown Sugar together on a wake board.
Other participants (Polar Bears) braved the Muddy Mississippi. on slalom,
tricks, combos, wakeboards, air chairs, and wake skis. In addition to the
challenge of cold water were floating debris, swift current, passing barges,
and an occasional slab of ice!" For more pictures and info......www.mdwsa.org

Gary Hall
|
IWSA Treasurer Gary Hall underwent hip
replacement surgery on December 3rd in Indianapolis and he returned home on
December 5th. Word has it that Gary is doing extremely well. He's up on
crutches and planning on returning to work in a few more days! You will
remember that Gary broke and set a new Men's 6 Slalom record of one and a
half buoys at 35 off this past July at the Indiana State Championships with
his hip pain so severe that he could hardly walk, out at Hawthorne Lake in
Danville. Gary planned this surgery event in order to be in ski shape by
ski season in '09 which his Dr. has said with his commitment to
rehabilitation he should be back in action skiing and playing golf just as
fearless as the past. We wish Gary a complete recovery and hope to see him
back on the water defending his record at the 09' state tournament this
upcoming season at Cindonway Shores in Syracuse. |
