The 2005 Barb Miller Memorial Scholarship Recipient

Abby Schmitt

Abby Schmitt is the daughter of Mark and Jean Schmitt which reside in Evansville and ski at beautiful Timberlake. Here Abby is presented with a plaque at the IWSA fall meeting as the 2005 recipient of the Barb Miller Scholarship which is awarded to a wining applicant each year. Here the Barb Miller Scholarship presenter Randy Sharkey (right) makes the presentation with IWSA President Bill Roach at their side. Abby is currently a sophomore at Purdue University. Abby is a big part of the women's ski team at Purdue and has helped bring a 5th place finish for Purdue at the Collegiate Nationals the past 2 seasons. Abby has been very active in the skiing activities with her Timberlake team, hosting the state tournament and helping host the Mid West Regionals a year ago.  As if that didn't discourage her enough her Purdue team had taken on the task of hosting the Collegiate Nationals with the Paducha Aqua Nuts and with great success pulling off one of the greatest Collegiate Nationals to date. So when Abby isn't busy with all her skiing activities at Purdue she is studying pharmacy, which could take a turn towards health or Physical Therapy.  IWSA thanks Abby for all she's done for the sport of waterskiing in the state of Indiana and congratulates Abby with her Scholarship award and wish her the best in her future studies at Purdue.
