New
Private Ski Lake-
There's a new ski site in NW Indiana. It is in
Rolling Prairie, IN just 15 minutes west of South Bend's airport. We just
acquired a property consisting of 715 acres of woods, water and pasture from the
Brothers of the Holy Cross Notre Dame. It has been known as Le Mans Academy for
the past several decades. The lake is 55 acres and is approx 10-12 feet deep.
2200' of length
make it ideal for tournaments and clinics. We are
looking for help in many ways. One way is to find members that want to ski on
private water. Second is to help organize to hold sanctioned events on the lake.
The land leading up to the water is 40 acres of manicured grass, with 2 soccer
fields, 2 tennis counts, a ball diamond, 2 sand volleyball courts, and indoor
gymnasium and many other wonderful attributes. The
bottom line is that this could be the ultimate Midwest ski site with the proper
planning. If this is something you may be interested in contact:

Cale Burdick and Casey Contos had a very respectful
showing at the 2004 U.S.Jr Open Tournament held this weeekend. Casey
finished 7th in slalom and Cale finished 3rd in slalom, 6th in tricks and
6th in the jump event putting him 4th overall. Skiing against a very
competitive field, the best in the US I'd say that isn't too bad.
Congratulations Casey and Cale. See the results at
USAWS.
