7/21/08         White River Back in Action

INDY SKIERS are finally back on the river.  They held learn to ski events on Thursday, July 17th and Saturday July 19th.  Installing and maintaining a tournament ski course on White River has been a challenge this season with high water and strong currents.  The new IWSA-RHI Sports Wheelchair ramp has been installed and (pictured here) tested by Dan Reed who rolled down the ramp and called it a smooth transition from landing to dock, due to the engineering prowess of members Jerry Hodges and Charles Edwards.  This ramp was funded in part by the IWSA and has been a great addition for the disabled clinics and events." On Saturday Indy Skiers hosted two disabled women from Louisville, a mom and son from Indy, and 2 Municipal Gardens youth basketball players in our first Community Learn to Ski Day.     There's a few pics Here.
